Lithe Apparels Certified LEED Gold Standard

FAMKAM announced today that one of its integrated units, Lithe Apparels, was awarded LEED® the Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for its energy efficiency and sustainability. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and an international symbol of excellence.

“We’re extremely proud and humbled to receive LEED certification,” said F.M. Kabir Mohiuddin, the Managing Director of FAMKAM. “From the very start, we knew we wanted to create a space that operates sustainably and gives our team members a healthy, more comfortable place to work. That focus on building a clean and safe environment certainly means more today than we ever anticipated, and the certification confirms that we succeeded.”

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED certification ensures buildings employ design, construction and operations practices that improve environmental and human health. LEED Certification is a long-running process from the design process to completion of the buildings and covers a wide range of aspects that involve several disciplines. The system evaluates the buildings under various categories such as sustainable land, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, innovation in design, or regional priority credits.

Buildings satisfying the prerequisites earn one of four LEED rating levels: Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum based on the number of points achieved.

The facility is the first FAMKAM integrated unit to achieve the prestigious environmental designation and exemplifies the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
